Character Name: Noé Archiviste
Canon: The Case Study of Vanitas
Canon Information: on Wikipedia and Noé's page
Canon Point: Chapter 34.5 (After witnessing the memories from Jean-Jacques' blood)
Age: 19
God Houses: Heimdall-- after all, loyalty and vigilance are both things that Noé strives for with great passion, due to what he saw as failures he was responsible for that affected someone he cared for deeply. For Noé, loyalty is something he attaches to people he meets easy, yet takes incredibly seriously. Even if it's someone he's just met a day ago, he doesn't accept leaving them alone if there's something he can do to help them.

Odin-- Brash enough to jump in headfirst without a proper plan and likewise willing to reject a tactically sound plan because it goes against his principles even if it means going into a situation blind, Noé is a fit for this house for all the things that he's not. Because of the very limited exposure to the world he had up until he left for Paris at 19, he's clueless to knowledge of political importance, technology, and life in general and it's shaped him for both better and worse at times.

Personality: Noé was orphaned at a young age; the last of those given the name "Archiviste" known to be living. Raised by humans, auctioned off, and then raised by a member of the De Sade family, there are a lot of holes and a lot of shifts in Noé's life. The better part of his years were spent in Averoigne, well away from people in a small home in the woods.

Thanks to that, there are a number of simple deficiencies that he suffers from. The first is a general knowledge of the world around him. Important names that most would consider impossible not to know completely catch him off guard. Modern marvels and simple cityscapes leave him absolutely in awe. The life he's lived prior to coming to Paris was a simple one, one that left him wholely unfamiliar with a great number of things. But what he lacks in knowledge he makes up for in intrigue. When allowed, he is happy to make small talk about any number of subjects in order to learn more about the topic in question.

Altogether he's quite childish. Take your eyes off of him during the wrong moment and the next he may be gone completely, on to see the next thing. To add to that he's quite brutally honest whether it be for the better or worse. Even if he would try to lie, there's no way you'd miss the obvious expression on his face giving him away. But there's rarely any reason for that, if he doesn't like you or approve of something you're doing then you'll hear about it. Likewise however, if there's something he does like he'll say it rather clearly even if it's something most would consider a bit embarrassing to blurt out like that.

He's innocent and sweet, in a naive way. But when crossed he shows a passionate anger that reflects just how easily swayed he is by his own emotions. There are times he can really get into it with Vanitas; yelling and saying some harsh things. He gets frustrated when things aren't straight forward-- and unfortunately Vanitas is not often very straight forward. Their views clash... but while that causes a number of arguments, it's not a source of true anger. If anything it ultimately comes down to a desire to understand, and a curiosity about the person.

At nineteen years old, he's capable of asking Vanitas with a straight face what love is. And it's not a question to trip him up or even mess with him. No, it's very serious. The number of people he's had in his life are very small, and even smaller are the number that are still living. Most of them are people that he'd think of in a familial way, at least to some extent. But the idea of love as more than that is completely foreign to him. He's never had anyone special to him in that way. And like anything else he's curious about-- it's only natural he's going to ask whether it seems weird or not.

That also means that he really doesn't have "friends" either. So when he meets new people he becomes rather interested in them, wanting to have those connections but never really having had the opportunity before. Whether they're a stranger or someone he's talked to a few times, if there's something he can do to help them then he's going to help them. He became involved with Vanitas first over the illness of one of his fellow passengers on the airship, a woman he'd never met before. And yet when he heard that they were going to kill her, he got them further involved just to try and save her.

There are times when his feelings cause him to be rash. There was a time he's selfishly pushed his own ideals onto Vanitas. But he was able to realize his shortcoming; and as is right he chose to apologize-- despite the fact that the other was probably blissfully unaware of what he'd been thinking to even be properly offended for himself. He says it as much for his own benefit as he does to be fair to others; after all it helps him reconcile with those feelings a little.

While vampires are not required to drink blood typically, for him it is something he enjoys. But beyond that, there is something special about him as the last known Archiviste. The first time he drinks someone's blood he's forced to relive certain memories of theirs. It's not something he can avoid the first time, and because of that he's learned-- and takes to heart-- the idea that especially for him, drinking someone's blood without their consent is unacceptable. He struggles with his desire to taste Vanitas' blood but knows he won't be able to unless the other changes his mind. In the past, before he learned better, he'd had people who called him a monster for it because he was different. So even though it has it's uses, he also has some unpleasant feelings towards his abilities.

Please choose a character!
Vanitas

The self-proclaimed doctor of vampires. He was in possession of the Book of Vanitas, which was the reason I started following him in the first place. But whether or not he's been able to retrieve it again-- I'm not certain.
Either way he's someone of great interest to me.
Jeanne

The former Bourreau of Lord Ruthven and guardian to Lucius "Luca" Oriflamme, the Grand Duke. It's hard for me to believe myself but it seems the political climate surrounding the Vampire Queen and Grand Duke are complicated right now. But she cares very deeply for Luca and would never allow any harm to come to him. Vanitas has a way of pushing her buttons, but perhaps that has something to do with the "love" the two of them share.
